National Intelligence University Joins the Office of the Director of National Intelligence

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ODNI News Release No. 21-21
June 21, 2021

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Intelligence University (NIU) officially transitioned from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) on June 20, 2021. This shift marks an important milestone that honors NIU's 59-year legacy stewarded by DIA and positions it as the Intelligence Community's (IC) university.

Chartered by the Department of Defense in 1962, NIU is the leading institution for intelligence education, in-depth research, and interagency engagement that offers classified courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Its alumni are the past, present, and future leaders of the IC and include a former Director of National Intelligence and former directors of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA), DIA, and National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA).

"We are honored to officially welcome the National Intelligence University into the ranks of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence," said Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines and NIU President Dr. J. Scott Cameron in a joint statement. "At no point has it been more important to sharpen our intelligence tradecraft with emerging expertise, strengthen our intelligence partnerships, and preempt long-term strategic threats with intellectual creativity. NIU's academic leadership, combined with ODNI's integrating role, stands to better serve the IC, federal government, and United States for years to come."

admissions is available on NIU's website at ni-u.edu/wp/.
